Leigh Wojtkiewicz Joins WMT as Chief Data & Insights Officer

MIAMI, Fla. – May 16, 2023 – WMT Digital, a leading digital agency, has expanded their leadership team with the appointment of Leigh Wojtkiewicz (pronounced Lee Wok-o-Witz) as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Data & Insights Officer. Wojtkiewicz brings a wealth of experience in data analysis and strategic planning from her previous leadership roles at Notre Dame, Paciolan, the Pac-12, and UC Berkeley.

The creation of the new division under the leadership of Wojtkiewicz is a clear indication of WMT’s continued commitment to building data informed products while also expanding services that will help current and new partners more effectively use data to drive growth. Wojtkiewicz will collaborate with partners to evaluate and consult on data strategy, provide recommendations on data products, and help develop new analytics solutions for the industry that will empower data-driven decision-making.

"Leigh is a pioneer in sports," said Andres Focil, CEO of WMT. "She’s been a leading advocate for the power of data in college sports since 2011. Her network and knowledge base have been driven by a service mentality and a willingness to network and mentor anyone trying to drive business growth through data. We're thrilled to have her join our team and look forward to leveraging her experience to drive innovation, growth and success for our partners."

As an integral member of the WMT leadership team, Wojtkiewicz will help define the data product vision for WMT while building a team of data analysts and specialists. The newly-established team will help implement data strategies to optimize client campaigns, analyze performance metrics to identify trends, and deliver customizable analytics solutions.

Wojtkiewicz officially joined WMT on May 10 after nearly two years with the Fighting Irish where she created a new team and vertical in the athletic department. The centralized, cross-functional team supports all areas of Notre Dame Athletics including, but not limited to, revenue generation, business and finance, student-athlete well being and performance, and team performance.

“I would like to thank Andres, Chad, and Chris for entrusting me with the responsibility of establishing a new division within WMT. As resources become more constrained across the industry, I believe we have an opportunity to reimagine the way data and analytics is used within our organizations. I’m thrilled to join the team at WMT to build services and solutions to fill a gap in the industry. I look forward to working with industry partners and clients to solve our data and analytics challenges.”

In her spare time with the Pac-12 and during the pandemic, Wojtkiewicz co-founded Sports Data, Analytics, and Technology Association (Sports D.A.T.A.). Sports D.A.T.A. is a non-profit comprehensive sports analytics professional association. Launched with a similar blueprint to NACDA or CABMA, Sports D.A.T.A. differentiates itself by servicing industry professionals in college athletics, professional sports, industry partners, and young professionals or individuals looking to break into sports analytics.

Prior to Notre Dame, Wojtkiewicz was instrumental in the Pac 12’s efforts to provide data service including consultation, analysis, and engineering support for its members. Her time (2018-2021) creating a new enterprise for college athletics and new analytics service model was crucial in her decision to join WMT.

“I’ve spent the last fifteen years working with data and analytics in college athletics and sports business. In that time I’ve observed the ways in which different organizations think about data and analytics. Some organizations “run” while other organizations struggle with analytics adoption, culture, and how to invest in the area. I believe a new service model and nimble solutions can collectively improve how all organizations think about analytics, manage data, and make data-informed decisions through new decision support systems.”

Prior to the Pac 12, Wojtkiewicz worked for Paciolan (2015-18), UC Berkeley (2011-15) and Northeastern University (2006-11).
